‘Albee for Guv’ signature drive rolls off

BACOLOD City – A former provincial board member has started a signature campaign urging Rep. Albee Benitez (3rd District, Negros Occ.) to run for governor in the 2019 elections.

Former board member Patrick Lacson, a son of former Negros Occidental governor Daniel “Bitay” Lacson, said in his Facebook account that he believes that the provincial government under the administration of Benitez “will cut short economic development from decades to just years.”

Benitez is serving his third and last term as congressman.

Benitez also endorsed his younger brother Dr. Francisco “Kiko” Benitez to run for the 3rd district congressional seat.

Lacson further said that “I remember how it was to lead an administration of the province when my father was our governor back in the mid-80s til early 90s.”

Lacson served on the provincial board for a decade and served three governors – the late Joseph Maranon, Isidro Zayco who is now mayor of Kabankalan City, and incumbent governor Alfredo Maranon Jr.

“So as far as the provincial economy, and basic services, and our local industries, I am confident enough that my opinion will count, on who’s to lead our province after Gov. Alfredo Marañon’s term that will end 2019,” he added.

“May I be the first to publicly sign, Albee Benitez for Governor 2019.”
