The Philippine Women’s University will soon have a new home in Silay City, Negros Occidental, one of its major development programs as it celebrates its 100th year this 2019.

The new campus will rise on a three-hectare lot in San Diego Dos, Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City, donated by the family of the late Pablo Jison, PWU president, Dr. Jose Francisco B. Benitez, said yesterday.

In a deed of donation signing ceremony at the Silay City Civic Center Saturday, the PWU president thanked the family of the late Pablo Jison for their generosity and for their trust, as he committed to continue the legacy of educational transformation that has been the mission of PWU since 1919.

Rep. Alfredo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District), welcomed the development that he said will make an impact not only in the District but in the whole province and Negros Island.

Silay City Mayor Mark Golez welcomed PWU, with assurance of the full support of the local government as he cited the advantages and opportunities that await the people of the city.

Among the guests from PWU were Regina Filart - Business Development Consultant, Dr. Felina Young - Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Chancellor, Marco Benitez- EVP for External Affairs Freddie Reyes and John Phillip Sevilla - member of the Board of Trustees.
