Rep. Alfredo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) said he is banking on the creation of the Department of Housing to address what he calls a “housing crisis”, that is now being experienced in the country.

Benitez, chairperson of the House Committee on Housing and Urban Development, said yesterday that he hopes it will be passed by Congress next month, as it had been proposed 27 years ago yet.

House OKs bill on land expropriation for mass housing

MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives approved on third and final reading a bill that will strengthen the government’s right to expropriate land for mass housing. 

House Bill 159 of Quezon City Rep. Christopher Belmonte got unanimous approval from the House plenary on Wednesday night. It allows expropriation of land even if the ownership issue is still under court litigation.

Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) is the invited guest speaker today at the 39th Real Estate Brokers Association of the Philippines Inc. national convention, that is ongoing at L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City, REBAP president Rhoneil Mercado said.

He added they invited the solon as he is the chairman of the House Committee on Housing, a press release said.

Mercado said that the opening of the convention yesterday was very successful, and more than 500 licensed brokers from all over the country registered for the event.

Rebap president Rhoneil R. M. Mercado said they invited the Negrense lawmaker being the House committee on housing and urban development.

A TOTAL of 120 patients from the Third District of Negros Occidental will undergo surgical operations under The Nikki Cares Surgical Mission organized by Dominique “Nikki” Lopez Benitez, wife of Representative Alfredo Benitez.

The three-day mission started Thursday, November 23, at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City, with the assistance of 81 doctors and nurses as well as health-related personnel of the Makati Medical Center.

That’s the question that needs a big answer, Congressman Alfredo ‘Albee’ Benitez of the 3rd District of Negros Occidental said, as he was surprised when he visited the two station Medical Wards with 11 rooms of Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital New Annex Building Extension.
