Benitez Says Former News Anchor Would Make a Capable Provincial Board Member

Former Negros Occidental third district Rep. Alfredo Benitez believes former ABS-CBN Bacolod news anchor Ryan Gamboa, who currently serves as a Silay City councilor, would make a “capable” provincial board member.

The city councilor is a presumptive candidate for Negros Occidental Philippine Councilors’ League president and faces Sagay City Councilor Arturo Marañon of the United Negros Alliance for the post.

PWU campus to rise in Silay

The Philippine Women’s University will soon have a new home in Silay City, Negros Occidental, one of its major development programs as it celebrates its 100th year this 2019.

The new campus will rise on a three-hectare lot in San Diego Dos, Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City, donated by the family of the late Pablo Jison, PWU president, Dr. Jose Francisco B. Benitez, said yesterday.

In a deed of donation signing ceremony at the Silay City Civic Center Saturday, the PWU president thanked the family of the late Pablo Jison for their generosity and for their trust, as he committed to continue the legacy of educational transformation that has been the mission of PWU since 1919.

THE Pablo Jison family of Silay City, headed by matriarch Elisa, donated a three-hectare property in a premier village in Barangay E. Lopez for the expansion initiatives of the Philippine Women's University (PWU) owned and run by the Benitez family, under the presidency of Dr. Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez, who is running for congressman of the third district of Negros Occidental.

The donor, Elisa Jison, and PWU president Kiko, signed the deed of donation as witnessed by Representative Alfredo Abelardo "Albee" Benitez (3rd district, Negros Occidental), Silay City Mayor Mark Andrew Golez, the Jison family, and the board of trustees and executives of PWU.

The Jison family of Silay City recently donated three hectares of land in the city’s Barangay E. Lopez as part of a planned Philippine Women’s University (PWU) expansion. The university is currently run by unopposed candidate for Negros Occidental third district congressman, Dr. Francisco Benitez, the brother of outgoing third district Rep. Alfredo Benitez.

‘Yolanda’ Housing Turned-Over in Silay

A total of 1,992 Yolanda permanent housing units with open spaces for community facilities, and a multi-purpose covered court with training rooms were turned-over to the first 300 beneficiary - informal settler families, among them senior citizens and persons with disabilities, relocated from various barangays in Silay City in simple ceremonial rites at the relocation site in Barangay E. Lopez last February 18, 2019 by the National Housing Authority led by NHA Bacolod Manager Engr. Alejandro Ongsuco.

Cong. Albee is Teacher at the World Teachers Day Celebration!



Cong. Albee Benitez taught Mathematics as guest teacher at the Grade 8 Orange class of the Victorias National High School in Victorias City. The class demo was facilitated by Teach For The Philippines, an NGO that promotes quality education through teacher-fellows bringing innovative teaching-learning methods in public schools. Cong. Albee facilitated the entry of TFP in selected public schools in Victorias and Silay Cities in the Third District.
